I'm always drawn to eastern culture, but I wanted to keep away from Japan and imperial China since it's kind of my default in Google-fu.. I looked at Himalayan tribes such as the Nepalis and Bhutiyan and ended up focusing on Mongolian culture because of a) how abundant reference is for it, and b) how layered the clothes are (Ciel is on top of a snowy mountain). I've found that previous attempts at dressing a "culture" have been a little... random? and not cohesive... so I tried keeping only to Mongols, and only to the collection of reference that I found.
I also tried to get less ceremonial outfits and more villager/nomad attire, as while Ciel isn't nomadic, the climate would make it pretty impractical to wear clothes that would be ruined by heavy snow and water.
Manchuuuuuuuuuuuuriaaaa!
ReplyDeleteGreat variations. =) Just wondering what the concept behind your choice in inspiration?
Thanks! :)
